This month we are celebrating innovations that are helping farmers and rural people to increase production and profits. Many of these stories particularly focus on women and youth, making them great resources to celebrate International Youth Day (Aug. 12) and the International Year of the Women Farmer (2026).
Youth are important contributors to their communities, particularly the agricultural sector, where they bring energy, dynamism, and new ideas – often linked to new technologies. Showcase the contributions youth are making to agriculture in your community, and the opportunities there are to contribute to the agrifood system. This includes connecting youth with mentors, training opportunities, and funding support to launch their career in agriculture.
Women are also important contributors to their families and communities – and bring a unique perspective given their roles as caregivers. In 2026, we are celebrating their contributions to food security, nutrition, and economic resilience. Join in this celebration by sharing stories about the unsung contributions of women.
